Prince Frederick’s park trail

In the 19th century, a circular park trail connected the estates of Prince Frederick of the Netherlands, brother of King William II. This gave rise to a route that passes beautiful locations and attractive views across the prince’s nine estates. The winding road runs through the current municipalities of Wassenaar and Voorschoten. In terms of size, Prince Frederick’s park trail, or more accurately the system of circular park trails, is unique in the Netherlands. Prince Frederick had much of it especially built or embellished by his architects.
