Bicycle tunnel Den Deijl
The activities for the bicycle tunnel have started. You have received a Dutch letter from the Municipality of Wassenaar about the future activities concerning the construction of the bicycle tunnel Den Deijl. This is a translation of the latest letter dated Wednesday 23 November.
In this letter you will read the activities which are planned in the upcoming weeks.
Junction Santhorstlaan – Van Zuylen van Nijeveltstraat open
In week 47 the junction between the Santhorstlaan and Van Zuylen van Nijeveltstraat are open for traffic in the direction of De Lus. This is indicated by road signs.
Asphalt bicycle path parallelroad Rijksstraatweg
The under layer of the asphalt is planned for week 49 (between 5 and 9 December). The construction of the upper layer of the asphalt take place in the New Year.
De Lus will be reconstructed as a component of the bicycle route Via44
In the new situation De Lus will be a bicycle street. This bicycle street has red asphalt in the middle and black asphalt on the side. In a bicycle street a car is a guest. The sidewalks and the parking places remain unchanged, but will be rearranged again. In the new situation the road will be a two way road.
Activities on De Lus
In week 48 (from Monday 28 November) the reconstruction of De Lus will begin. From the monument on the junction Van Zuylen van Nijeveltstraat – De Lus to the Deijlerweg the asphalt and the brick pavement will be removed from the parking places. The under layer of the asphalt and the paving of the new parking spaces is planned for week 51. At the end of week 51 De Lus will be open for traffic. The upper layer of the asphalt is planned to take place in the New Year.
Accessibility, parking places and collection of garbage in De Lus
- De Lus is closed for the movement during the activities. We ask you to park your car temporarily elsewhere.
- During the activities your house is always accessible on foot. There is a chance that the sidewalk is temporarily torn up due to the installment of cables and piping.
- During the activities it isn’t possible for the garbage vehicle to come by your house. Please, place your dirt containers at the nearest possible street where the garbage truck can access.
Christmas period
From Friday 23 December 2011 up to Monday 9 January 2012 there no activities. During this period the work area is cleared. All loose material is removed.
