New US Embassy
As part of planning and design efforts associated with the building of the new U.S. Embassy in Wassenaar, Schanbel Engineering will begin drilling borings and performing underground testing of the site beginning June 27. This work will continue through July 9.
This work is being done to obtain information for use in designing the foundations of the buildings, as well as thermal and hydrologic testing of the soils to evaluate potential use of geothermal systems for providing heating and cooling of the buildings.
There will be a second stage of testing that will begin approximately July 25.
The New Embassy Campus will meet the requirements of the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) internationally-recognized green building certification system.
